Hello friends. Still cleaning out Lightroom (down to less than 3000 photos left!). I figured I’d share this little collection of nature shots from fall, all taken along the trails I live on. Plus, what I’m up to.
I deactivated my Instagram account. I made it eight months, which is about seven and a half months longer than expected. My friends and clients barely used it, so that left me with sharing my artwork. And I just did not enjoy doing that. It was the wrong platform for me. Actually, it put me off very much.
Bummer to lose touch with some of the cool photographers I met, because I did connect with a few very sweet, super talented people. On the other hand, I also came across a lot of pretty lousy people. I never had any communication with any of them, fortunately. But boy did I see it everywhere.
I had no interest in being part of any of the photo “communities” on Insta, be it urbex, rurex, nature, anything. Even some of the big wedding vendor accounts would resort to pettiness and steal images. A lot of people need to grow up, smarten up, and realize that life doesn’t revolve around a silly app on your phone.
Moving on. I’m building another book installation of Desolo. I can’t have it printed yet, because I still have a few hundred shots left to edit from last year. I’m also trying to plan where, and when, I’ll be able to go in 2016. The list is taking shape. When I have the means and the people to go with, the fun will begin.
In the new year, I’m still taking time to enjoy having my nights and weekends off. It’s wild how much I worked in 2015. A few of my clients this year are urban explorers. I’m so excited that we’ve connected over a mutual love and respect for old buildings.
Shooting goals this year: Explore more. Foster my moody aesthetic. Further define my wedding photography style. Not overwhelm myself. Buy at least two new lenses. Buy another good film camera. Take more candids. Meet more fellow creatives, wedding vendors, and photographers — in person!
That’s it! ‘Til next time.
Great nature shots esp. of the apples in the water…hope to be with you on some of your 2016 explores!
Thanks Robert! Without a doubt! Once I get a few hopeful locations jotted down I’ll e-mail you and see if you’ve got any interest in any of them too. 🙂
