I’ll refrain from talking about any history of this little spot. The backstory gives it away instantly, and the signs of early vandalism here really annoyed me.
I happened to be on a day-trip in the area with my best friend and her younger sister (who is basically my younger sister). They wanted to see this place too, so we decided to swing by and look around.
If it isn’t obvious, this particular building was a restaurant. The booths are still here, and so is some of the flatware and kitchen equipment.
Not too sure where the mattresses came from…
There is one tagger who’s been here and oh-so-creatively written his name on everything; Max. I cloned his nonsense out from my shots. If you’re reading this, Max, you can bite me.
A drink cap from a children’s beverage.
There was a second level to the restaurant, but it seems time and the elements were a bad combination for that section of the building. It caved in.
The refrigerators are still in the kitchen, and so is the walk-in. A previous visitor left their iced tea here — it looks so out of place with no other explorer trash lying around.
In the back office, there was a circular for…salami sales?
Just what you want to see in a restaurant; a sign reading “Please pardon the poop.”
Outside, there is garbage everywhere. It’s all stuff that used to be inside; decorations, games, toys, stuffed animals, cassette tapes, candies, etc. Looks like storage boxes got left outside and disintegrated.
Creepy doll #1.
Let’s move on! Off into the woods, we found the other buildings…
I’ll let you have this one, Max. This one.
Aaaand creepy doll #2.
The last building I wanted to see was a nearby motel.
This was an arm-through-a-crack-in-the-window shot.
The tiny rooms all opened into the parking lot instead of a single joined hallway. Only one had a broken window. On the bed was an ashtray, a Bible, and the American flag. Talk about a little portrait of Americana.
Got one more set to post from this day later. ‘Til then!
Great set of images, love the colour you get.
Thank you very much! 🙂 I was a bit worried how all those neutral tones would come out.
